Data Transmission Network (DTS) Design

mdtech provides services for the design, implementation, and support of highly resilient corporate networks.

Data networks play a vital role in virtually all modern company business processes. The quality of access to the network and services directly impacts the effectiveness of almost all its departments. Networks act as the central link, ensuring interaction between offices, branches, and remote production sites, and the variety of tasks placed on classical IP networks is constantly growing.

In addition to organizing connectivity for workstations and telephony, modern networks can integrate management solutions for:

  • Engineering structures and dispatching

  • Access Control Systems (ACS)

  • Video surveillance

  • Power supply systems

  • And many other critical subsystems.

The choice of the technical solution for network design can now directly affect physical safety, life support, and the continuity of production processes.

Functional Capabilities of Modern Networks

Over the past decade, data networking solutions have undergone colossal changes:

  • Convergence has become a reality.

  • The network can operate as a single, transparent fabric for both the user and the administrator.

  • The full range of security solutions is integrated into the network equipment; policy enforcement can now be provided directly "from the port" (Zero Trust).

  • SDN, SDWAN, NFV are no longer concepts but fully functional products designed to simplify and centralize management functions and network virtualization.

How to choose among dozens of available solutions? The System Integrator mdtech provides comprehensive services for creating high-performance data networks.

Stages of Network Design and Implementation (SPD)

  1. Preparation: Collection and analysis of customer business requirements for the corporate network. Audit of the existing network infrastructure (if necessary). Preparation and signing of the Statement of Work (SOW).

  2. Planning: Development of the High-level Design, including the architectural concept and a list of all necessary network devices: access, aggregation, and core switches, routers, firewalls (NGFW, UTM), Sandboxes, and centralized management systems. Calculation of the composition and cost of the required equipment.

  3. Network Design (Low-level): Development of the Low-level Design, including the structural and functional schemes, description of protection and monitoring methods, system passport, working tables (VLAN, IP addresses), and configuration tables. Development of a detailed implementation plan, failure scenarios, and testing programs. Issuance of technical project and working documentation.

  4. Network Implementation: Detailing the work schedule and defining responsible parties. Delivery of equipment to the customer site, installation, cabling, power connection, and labeling. For brownfield environments (active networks), a step-by-step resource and time plan is developed with risk analysis. Conducting acceptance tests and issuing operational documentation.

  5. Support: Post-installation warranty support for the implemented solution, comprehensive customer consulting, and facilitating interaction with the technical support of manufacturers.
