Design and installation of WiFi networks

mdtech provides a professional service for the design, creation, and support of corporate Wi-Fi networks.

Wi-Fi networks are critical for uninterrupted and reliable operation across every economic sector: manufacturing, logistics, HoReCa, retail, healthcare, finance, and others.

The main challenge when deploying a new or modernizing an existing Wi-Fi network is the placement of access points — determining their quantity and positions to ensure stable, high-quality coverage within the target zone. Deploying a Wi-Fi network without a preliminary radio frequency survey is a major mistake, often leading to network failures and the stoppage of critical business processes.

Only a competently executed radio frequency planning procedure will allow the creation of a fault-tolerant wireless network with predictable characteristics.

Wi-Fi Radio Planning

Radio planning is the most crucial stage of the project, determining the stability and performance of the wireless network. Key factors considered include: radio-opaque obstacles, wall and ceiling materials, uneven user density, personnel movement routes, application load characteristics, and physical specifics of client equipment.

Stages of Wi-Fi Network Design and Creation

  1. Coverage Planning (Predictive Design): Assessing business requirements, drafting the SOW, creating a 3D site model, and performing predictive planning (considering height, materials, user density). Preparing the network architecture concept and equipment specification.

  2. Radio Frequency Survey (Site Survey): Conducting an on-site survey using test APs to refine the predictive model. Releasing technical documentation with actual measurement results. Preparing a low-level design with detailed component configuration.

  3. Implementation and Integration: Equipment delivery, installation of SCS and APs according to the design. Integrating the solution with existing customer systems (authentication/authorization, WMS/PMS integration).

  4. Solution Validation: Conducting a post-project radio survey to control installation quality and verify coverage parameters against requirements. Auditing settings and optimizing radio coverage (if necessary).

  5. Consulting and Support: Providing comprehensive consulting services and vendor technical support liaison.

Key Features of Wi-Fi Network Organization at mdtech

  • Tools: We use the professional software suite Ekahau Site Survey Pro for creating detailed predictive models and coverage maps.

  • Measurement Accuracy: The Ekahau Sidekick spectrum analyzer investigates both Wi-Fi bands (2.4GHz + 5GHz) in real-time, capturing interference data from non-Wi-Fi sources as well.

  • Efficiency and Safety: For surveys in complex areas (warehouses, production floors), we use pneumatic masts (3-12 meters) to accurately position and align antennas without interrupting ongoing operations.

  • Demo Fleet: Our own extensive demo fleet of APs (Cisco, Ruckus, Aruba, etc.) allows us to validate the selected equipment model and configuration in a real environment.
